Margaret Rae (Brannan) Sislo

March 11, 1944 — May 12, 2025

Margaret Rae “Peggy” (Brannan) Sislo, 81, passed away after a brief illness in Cape Canaveral Hospital, Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Peggy dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked for over 20 years at Parkland Health Facility, later at Middle River Health Facility, and eventually continued her calling in private home health care. Even after retirement, she remained active in the community, working for Senior Connection in Wentworth, where she enthusiastically organized bingo, smear, and bunco games.

A spirited and social woman, Peggy was a longtime member of several bunco groups and enjoyed many joyful years playing cards with friends. She was also a member of the BNSF Railroad Employees Club, where she served on the board. An avid swimmer, she participated in the YMCA “Sisters of the Faded Swimsuits” swimming group, and she was a proud and devoted lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

In the summers, Peggy cherished her time at her lake cabin, surrounded by family and friends. She often reminisced about the beauty and peace she and her beloved husband shared there. In her later years, her greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren create lasting memories with their aunts, uncles, and cousins, a tradition she held close to her heart.

Peggy was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Superior and will be remembered as a beautiful example of a faithful Christ follower. With a heart full of compassion, she welcomed anyone in need into her home, offering warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. Her generosity touched the lives of countless people, family, friends, and even strangers. Her legacy of love, service, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Peggy is survived by her six sons: John, California; Robert (Karen) Maryland; Bernard, Lake Nebagamon; Charlie, South Range; James (Erin), Brandon, South Dakota; and Lyman Lakeville, Minnesota. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandkids, her brother Charles Brannan, Wascott; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard Sislo, in 1997; her infant daughter in 1969; two grandsons, Logan and Austin; her five sisters: Sharon Karlson, Ann Bodell, MaryLou Jamison, Betty Kay Tallberg, Nancy Bergstrom; her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Brannan. Peggy was the youngest of seven siblings.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to be part of her life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Florida, Hampton Manor of Merritt Island, St. Mary’s hospital in Superior, Essentia Health Duluth, Villa Marina in Superior, Center Well Home Healthcare of Duluth, Ecumen in Duluth, and the staff at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, for the wonderful care they provided Peggy.
