Margaret R. “Peggy” Honkanen, 64, Superior resident, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born on July 15, 1951 in Superior, WI to Marvin and Kathleen (Allen) Van Puymbrouck.
Peggy graduated from Superior Senior High School and attended W.I.T.C. She worked for Upper Lakes Foods for many years and considered her co-workers more like family.
Peggy was a former member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church where she attended in previous years.
She was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed playing cribbage, UNO and games with her grandchildren. She loved gardening and cooking for family and friends.
Peggy is survived by four sons, Tony (Nadine) Bacon, Milwaukee, WI, Troy Bacon, Superior, WI and Phillip Bacon, Duluth, MN and Gordy (Kori) Bacon, Moundsview, MN; four grandchildren, Logan, Janna, Gordy II and Gavin; two sisters Jean Ann (Paul) Krivinchuk, Superior, WI and Kathy (Rick) Opoien, Superior, WI and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Dan and Tim Van Puymbrouck and her stepdad Pete Sheridan.
A Celebration of Life and Time of Remembrance service will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Belgium Club, 3931 East 2 nd Street, Superior.
