Margaret Mary Plachta

Margaret Mary Plachta, 89, resident of Superior, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Edgewood Vista in Duluth, MN.

She was born on May 12, 1932 in Superior, WI, the daughter of Patrick and Martha (Ruff) Flaherty.

Margaret graduated from Cathedral High School, Superior WI.  She became employed as a CNA at St. Francis Nursing Home.  Margaret was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King Church.  She was a very active member who assisted with many events such as funeral luncheons.  Margaret was also involved in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother.

She is survived by her sons, William (Melanie), Carlton, MN, Edward (Lisa M), Superior, WI, and John (Elizabeth), Hermantown, MN; daughter-in-law, Lisa B. Plachta, Duluth, MN; brother, Tom (Fran) Flaherty; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lee) Danielson, Patrick (Maria) Plachta, Sarah (Casey) Bergquist, Kelly Plachta, Tanya Plachta, Rachel and Rochelle Plachta, Anne, David and Katie Plachta; twelve great-grandchildren; one niece; and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Martha Flaherty; son Mark; brother, Richard; brother and sister-in-law- John and Mary Ellen Flaherty.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1410 Baxter Avenue, Superior WI.  The Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
