Margie K. Larson

Margie Kay Larson, 76, Port Wing, WI, died peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Superior, WI on March 3, 1947, to John L. and Betty (Peterson) Helsing.  On April 10, 1964 she was united in marriage to Keith Larson.  They celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage before her passing.

Margie was a proud graduate of South Shore High School in Port Wing, WI.  Active in her community, Margie volunteered at numerous town functions. She was a member of the Port Wing Fish Boil Club and First Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed being a longtime member of the Monday Evening Club.

Margie enjoyed her years as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, providing a warm home filled with joy and laughter.  She will be remembered for her frequently requested cinnamon rolls, butter horns and Christmas fudge. She enjoyed camping with friends and her family.  She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach on Lake Superior and taking pontoon boat rides.  She loved playing cards and games with her family and friends. Over the years, Margie and Keith enjoyed traveling together to many different places in the United States and Europe.

Margie will forever be remembered for her loving spirit and being an advocate for people who needed a hand up. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Keith Larson, Port Wing, WI; son, Kurt (Barb) Larson, Superior, WI; daughter, Tanya Larson (Matt Pamer), Port Wing, WI; grandchildren, Wyatt Mueller, Alex Larson, Maggie Mueller, and Rachel Larson; brothers, John “Sonny” Helsing, and David Helsing, both of Port Wing, WI; and brother-in-law, Warren (Kathy) Larson, Bismark ND, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her infant daughters, Jean-Marie, Keri Sue, and Karlyn Kay; her sister, Irene Hegbloom, and her parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in 83105 Washington Avenue, Port Wing, WI, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Dick Bouton officiating.

The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Port Wing on a later date.
