Marguerite L. Pavlovich

October 12, 1929 — January 4, 2025

Marguerite Louise Pavlovich, Poplar, WI resident, passed away January 4, 2025, in Superior, WI at the age of 95.

Marguerite was born the daughter of Louis and Frances (Chiapusio) Bertoluzza on October 12, 1929 in West Allis, WI. Her family then moved to Hurley, WI where she and her two sisters grew up.

Marguerite married Frank Joseph Pavlovich on June 17, 1950 in Hurley where they lived until moving to Superior in 1967, and ultimately built a home in Poplar, WI. While raising their five children, Marguerite earned a Bachelor of Science Degree/Elementary Education/ minor Library Science ( 1970), and a Master of Science Degree in Education (1981) from UW-Superior.

Marguerite’s entire life centered around family. She was a dedicated and devoted wife; always supportive of her husband and always by his side. Marguerite and Frank celebrated 53 years of marriage together before Frank’s passing March 30, 2003. To her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was loving, inspiring, strong and resilient.

Marguerite was an impeccable seamstress who created hundreds of outfits for her children and grandchildren. She was also a phenomenal cook and baker, always making Italian food, pasties, cinnamon rolls, breads, pies and cookies. Being Italian, these were never made in small amounts, but always in vast quantities! “Mangia, Mangia!”

Marguerite was a consummate professional who developed, centralized, and worked in all of the elementary school libraries in the Superior School District for 19 years.

After Marguerite retired, she continued dedicating herself to her growing family and kept herself busy with her cooking and sewing, besides extensively researching the family’s genealogy.

Marguerite is survived by her children: Lewis (Renae decd) Pavlovich, Cocoa, FL, Monica (Joseph) Gostisha, Oconto Falls, WI, Luke (Peggy) Pavlovich, Waukesha, WI, Gemma (Bill) Moon, Poplar, WI, and Ivan (Donna) Pavlovich, Poplar, WI.

10 grandchildren: Ryan Pavlovich, Leah (David) Moore, Riley Gostisha, Jace (Emily) Gostisha, Jake (Heather) Pavlovich, Nick Pavlovich, Morganna Moon, Frank (Danielle) Moon, Willie (Nicole) Moon, and Chelsey (Jesse) Moss. 12 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

Marguerite was preceded in death by many relatives, including her husband, Frank; sisters and brothers-in-laws Myrna (Thomas) Lauzon and Priscilla (Bill) Kimball; and daughter-in-law Renae Pavlovich.

The family of Marguerite would like to thank Dove Healthcare-Superior and Essentia Health Hospice Care for their perpetual love, kindness and professional care given to her.
