Marianne Bristol

Marianne Bristol, 81, Foxboro, died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born March 1, 1931, to Lawrence and Alta (Bouvia) Boos in Clinton, Iowa.


She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Clinton and has resided in Wisconsin since 1966.


She married Jon Michael Bristol on June 2, 1962 in Clinton, IA and recently celebrated fifty years of marriage.


Marianne was employed with the Diocese of Superior for many years.

She was a member of St. William Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Red Hat Ladies, St. William Canasta Club, and Duluth Area Ostomy Group. Her main interest was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she also enjoyed parish work, reading, gardening, baking and enjoying cards with her canasta friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jon, and her children Maria (Adam) Kettner, Wausau, WI and Matthew (Pauline), Cedar Falls, IA., and her four grandchildren Maverick Jon and Elizabeth Mary (Ellie) Bristol and Reece Michael and Chase Matthew Kettner; brother Eugene (Cathy) of Riverton, IL, and sister-in-law Patricia Boos of Muscatine, IA, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister-in-law.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. William Catholic Church, Foxboro and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson officiating.

Inurnment will take place in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, IA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 22, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marianne’s name to the American Cancer Society.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
