Marie M. Roberts

Marie M. Roberts, 97, lifelong Superior resident, died, Saturday, September 15, 2018, in her home surrounded by family. She was born in Superior, June 11, 1921, the daughter of Harry and Olga (Ler-Johnson) Leland.

She married Donald C. Roberts in 1949 and they celebrated forty-four years of marriage before his passing in 1993.

Marie enjoyed her years spent as a homemaker and was a loving wife and mother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going for rides. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and the family pets.

She is survived by her sons, Donald D. Roberts, Plover, WI, and Dennis J. (Kim) Roberts and Douglas L. (Terri McGrath) Roberts, both of Superior, WI; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Wilson-Franklin who died in WWII; second husband, Donald C. Roberts; daughter, Rose Marie Julig; parents; infant son, Richard James Franklin; and brothers, John and Edwin Leland.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1708 John Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 12:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Michelle Rowell officiating, and chaplain David Eaton of Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospice, co-officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
