Marilyn Woerle (nee Lutz, Gaustad) of Brule, WI passed away on January 6, 2026, due to complications from a fall and Lewy Body disease. Marilyn was born on February 6, 1943, to Edward and Juanita Lutz.
Marilyn was the fourth and final girl joining her big sisters Barbara, Mary (Delphine) and Phyllis. Marilyn grew up in Hugo, MN and attended the White Bear Lake schools. When she was a senior she lost her hearing due to bone issues. She would have wires placed in her ears and would tell her kids she was bionic.
In 1970, Marilyn was blessed with her first son, Steven. Marilyn would raise him on her own with help from her family until 1972 when she met and married Peter Gaustad Sr. Their union was blessed by their son, Peter Jr. (She and Peter shared a birthday). They raised their family in Hammond, WI. Although their marriage ended in 1983, she continued to work hard and provide for her sons.
In 1984, Marilyn met Richard Woerle and the two began dating. Eventually they would get married in 1993. She would joke she wanted to make sure all the kids were out of the house! Marilyn and Richard remained together until her death.
While living in Hudson, Marilyn worked for Phillips Plastics in both New Richmond and Hudson. Having to retire early due to disability in 1997, Marilyn and Richard decided to move to their retirement home in Brule. It was there where she would spend days looking out at the pond, reading her books, or playing on her tablet.
Marilyn treasured her time with family. She would sit and joke with Parker and Bennett and she loved baking with Isabella. She would joke that the kids needed to eat the cookies before their Dad or Grandpa got to them! She treasured her time with her "special" grandkids Caprice, Collin, and Anna. No matter who she was talking about she would beam with joy.
Marilyn always believed in finding the best of everyone. Telling her sons and grandkids there is good in everyone. These lessons will be passed on by all who knew Marilyn.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, nieces Rita and Norma, and nephew Robert.
She is survived by her husband Richard; sons Steven Lutz, Maplewood, MN and Peter Gaustad Glenwood City; special daughter Nanette (Mick) Wrich of White Bear Lake, MN. Her grandkids Parker Gaustad, Bennett Gaustad, Isabella (Mason) Gaustad, Caprice Brueggeman, Colin Wrich, and Anna Wrich. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her good friend BK.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Marilyn from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on January 24, 2026 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E 5th Street in Superior.
