Marla A. Brabander

Marla A. Brabander, 74, Iron River, WI resident and formerly of Superior, died on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born on November 10, 1942 in Superior, WI to Ellard and Mildred (Hanley) Rydberg.

She was a graduate of the former Central High School in Superior and she received her L.P.N. certification from a nursing school in Moose Lake. She was a bartender and cook for various locations in the area. Marla enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking, fishing and spending quality time at her lake home on Half Moon Lake in Iron River. She also was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Marla is survived by three daughters, Andrea DeBeir, Iron River, WI, Pamela Bouchard Gidley and Lisa Bouchard, both of Superior, WI; two sons, Scott DeBeir, Superior, WI and Mike DeBeir, Solon Springs, WI; seven grandchildren, Brennon, Ceaira, Jordan, Christine, Drake, Cassie and Chandra; four great-grandchildren, Dominic, MacKenzie, Dezmond and Daphne; one brother, Andy Rydberg, Mpls, MN; her former husband, Jerome Bouchard and her close friend Chuck and her beloved K9 companions and her beloved Patch.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Paul DeBeir, third husband Robert Brabander, brother Ellard “Al” Rydberg and stepson Pat Bouchard.

Visitation will be from 4:30 – 6:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 6:00 PM memorial service with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King Church officiating.
