Marlys Gunski

Marlys L. Gunski, 85, Superior, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in the Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marlys was a lifelong Superior resident, born on May 31, 1924 to Ralph C. and Myrtle A. (Munson) Vreeland.
She was employed as a waitress at restaurants in Superior and she was a homemaker and caregiver for thirty years. She loved to bake, make Swedish meatballs, do crossword puzzles, crocheting and quilting.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Women of the Moose, Superior Chapter and the BNSF Retirees, Twin Cities and Local Clubs.
Marlys is survived by one sister, Jane Whitaker, Lorain, OH; one brother, Dale (Madelyn) Vreeland, Superior; one daughter-in-law, Karen Gunski, Superior; three granddaughters, Marcella Gunski, Superior, Elvon (Rick) Benevidas, Jacksonville, NC, Denise (Ramey) Garza, Corpus Christie, TX; four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Shayla and Zachary Garza and Kyle Benevidas and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years Bernard C.; her son Bernard F. and her parents.
Marlys’s family would like to thank “We Care For You” especially Janet Rampier, Chris Bay, Jane Howard and Elsie Mickelson, who have been so helpful to her on her journey. They would also like to thank Villa Marina, especially Gentiva for the wonderful care and her special friends, Sandy Fraley and Jim Geegan.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 26, 2010 until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, as celebrant.
Inurnment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
