Marvin G. Anderson, 76, Mattoon, IL, and formerly of Brule, WI passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Mattoon Health Care Center surrounded by his loving daughter, Kathy and grandson, Christian.
He was born on April 20, 1936 in Superior to Marvin G. and Mabel (Peterson) Anderson.
He was happily married to Sharon Kay Cox who preceded him in death March 10, 1986.
Marvin served in the United States Army. He was employed with United Airlines as a lead ground crew mechanic for forty years retiring in 1998.
He loved anything that kept him outdoors such as hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and just enjoying nature itself.
He was an avid reader. He would read books and magazines from cover to cover.
He particularly liked books on the World Wars, airplanes and anything about nature. Most of all, he was the best father, brother, grandfather, uncle or friend anyone could ever have.
In addition to his daughter Kathy May and her son Christian May of Mattoon, IL, Marvin is survived by three step-sons, Ronald D. Reed, Timothy K. Reed and William M. K. (Linda) Reed, all of Indianapolis, IN; three step-grandchildren, Chris Reed, Jessica Reed and Ronald D. Reed II; one step-great-grandson, Ronald D. Reed III; one brother, Harvey (Barbara) Anderson, Iron River; one sister, Linda (Steve) Knopp, Bloomington, MN and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Sharon, Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Anderson and one sister, Kathleen Kay Anderson.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, Superior with Pastor Steve Carlson, officiating.
Private family burial will take place after the service.
Pallbearers for the service will be Christian May, William Reed, Benjamin Anderson, Douglas Carlson, Steve Knopp and Christopher Reed.
