Marvin Tyykila

August 8, 1935 — April 15, 2014

Marvin Tyykila, 78, South Range, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at St. Francis Home in the Park. He was born on August 8, 1935 in Maple, WI at the family homestead to Matt and Mary (Lepisto) Tyykila.

He served his nation as an Airman in the United States Air Force overseas during the Cold War.

Marvin was employed and retired as a welder and maintenance technician for United States Steel on the Iron Range.

He is survived by two sons, Patrick Tyykila, Town of Amnicon, WI and Matt (Rosemary) Tyykila, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) U.S. Air Force, San Antonio, Texas and six grandchildren, Connie (Garrett) Westlund, Leah Tyykila, Leslie (Ryan) Hennes, Lori Corzine, Rachel Tyykila and Kevin Tyykila.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Fred, Swen, Edward, and Ervin, and two sisters, Ailie Colby and Lillian Santikko. Surviving sisters include Helen Neimi, Elna Levo, Bertha Mikkola, Violet Anderson, and Mary Lahti.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM and will continue until the 2:00 PM Memorial Service on Friday, April l8, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Pastor Sarah Kerkes of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, officiating.
