Mary I. (Gall) Hammer

Mary I. (Gall) Hammer, 90, lifelong resident of Superior, died peacefully Monday, April 9, 2018 in Encompass Healthcare in Superior, WI. She was born in Superior, September 6, 1927, the daughter of Mary (Vas) and Martin Gall Sr.

She attended the former St. Patrick’s Grade School in Superior and was a graduate of Cathedral High School’s class of 1946.

She was united in marriage to Donald W. Hammer in September 1947, and they celebrated fifty-one years of marriage before his passing.

Mary worked as a sales clerk for forty years, retiring in 1986 from the former, F.W. Woolworth Co., after thirty-two years of service. She was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church for the last sixteen years and was a former member of the former St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Cyril Methodious and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Superior.

Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald; parents; six brothers, Martin Jr., Steve, Joseph, John, Alex and Paul Gall, and their spouses.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 16, 2018 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Ron Olson as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
