Mary Jean Glonek

Mary Jean Glonek 86, lifelong Superior area, resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 surrounded by her family at St. Mary's Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in Superior on August 27, 1930, the daughter of Lloyd James and Rosalie (Barnaby) Allen.

Mary Jean was employed for many years by the former St Mary's Hospital and Dr. Picard's office as a Lab tech.  She was also a teacher for the Head Start program in Superior for over twenty years.She was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior.

Mary Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed Bingo and the occasional trip to the casino.  She also enjoyed following her son and grandson at the stock car races in Superior. Mary Jean loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.

Mary Jean is survived by two daughters, Ann (Mac) McKercher, Foxboro, WI and Patricia "Patty" (Earl Novotney) Flynn, La Crosse, WI: two sons, Michael Glonek and James Glonek, both of South Range, WI: three grandchildren, David (Amanda) Flynn, Superior, WI, Kristen Glonek, Racine, WI and Dylan Glonek, Racine, WI and one great-grandson, Toretto Flynn/

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Richard Allen and seven sisters, Lois Arrington, Kathleen Sheridan, Barbara Sallberg, Rosalie Dunst, Dorothy "Dotsy" Honkanen, Nancy Petrey and Eileen Wohlwend.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior, WI. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 2, 2017  at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Superior.
