Mary T. Lozon

February 15, 1922 — May 9, 2011

Mary T. Lozon, 89, lifelong Superior resident, died on Monday, May 9, 2011 in Hospice care at Essentia Health in Duluth with her loving family by her side.

She was born on February 15, 1922 in Superior to John and Mary (Tapak) Kubalak.

She graduated from the former East High School.

She married Wallace Lozon on April 23, 1945 and celebrated thirty-three years of marriage before he passed away in February 1979.

Mary was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the St. Francis Travelers and she was a member of the Superior Women’s Bowling Association.

She and her husband Wally owned and operated the Mr. Softie Ice Cream Truck and the former Marine Bar and Grill. Following the sale of the bar, Mary was employed at Pooler Drug in East End Superior and the Superior Hospital.

Mary was an avid “Sports Mom and Grandma”. She was also a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Mary is survived and will be sadly missed by one daughter, Diane (George) Danielson, Superior; three sons, Thomas (Patricia) Lozon, John (Carla) Lozon, Gerald “Jerry” (Jan) Lozon, all of Superior; nine grandchildren, Mark (Laura) Lozon, Ryan (Shannon) Lozon, Erik Lozon, Adam Lozon, Jason Danielson, Craig Danielson, Derek Danielson, Aftin (Josh) Hughes and Mitchell Lozon four great-grandchildren, Brett, Jake, Cole and Evan Lozon and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Wally, Mary is preceded in death by a sister, Julia McQuade and three brothers, John, Joe and Pete Kubalak.

Visitation will begin after 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with a Rosary Service scheduled for 6:30 PM.

Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Dean Buttrick, as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.


Mary’s grandchildren will be recognized as pallbearers.
