Mary A. Lundberg

February 1, 1940 — April 8, 2022

Mary Agnes Lundberg, 82, of Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin died Friday April 8th at home with her family by her side, after a long struggle with dementia. Mary was born on Feb. 1, 1940, to Wayne and Agnes (Kane) Brittan in Superior, Wisconsin. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1958 and UWS Superior in 1962 with a double major in Chemistry and Math.

She married Kenneth Lundberg on August 18, 1962, and taught Math for two years at Central High School in Superior. Just before moving to Vermillion, SD in late August of 1964, they welcomed twin boys, David and Mike into their family. While living in Vermillion their daughter Kathleen was born. In the spring of 1967, they moved to Bemidji, MN. There she chose to be a stay at home mom after the addition of Tom and Tim. They moved to Lake Nebagamon after spending 41 years in Bemidji. A year-round home was built, on her folk’s lake property, with lots of space to host her children and grandchildren. Here they found a wonderful Lake Nebagamon community in which to live.

She enjoyed many family canoe trips to Quetico camping, Door County salmon fishing and Canadian houseboat trips to Lac Seul, as well as musky fishing. She enjoyed watching all her grandchildren participate in many activities and loved them all. She was known for her canned salmon, Rice Krispy bars, and brownies. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church of Lake Nebagamon and enjoyed many church activities.

She is survived by her Husband Ken of 59 years, her brother Wayne (Karen) Brittan, and children, David (Amy), Mike (Kim), Kathleen (Duane) Hill, Tom (Amy) and Tim. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s in Lake Nebagamon on Friday April 22nd, at noon with Father Ricci officiating. Visitation is at 10AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice of Duluth or St. Anthony’s of Lake Nebagamon.
