Mary M. Suo, 96, lifelong Oulu area resident, passed away, Monday, March 23, 2020 at Northern Lights Health Services in Washburn, WI. She was born by a midwife on June 25, 1923 in Beniot, WI to Joseph and Sophia (Hranich) Krog.
Mary married Toivo “Toby” Suo and they celebrated thirty-eight years of marriage before his passing in 1980. She graduated from high school and was employed as a cook at various area restaurants.
Mary loved cooking, especially preparing Sunday morning brunches. She enjoyed playing cards, doing both word and jigsaw puzzles and was the oldest member of the Iron River VFW dart league.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Iron River and the Iron River VFW Auxiliary Post #10197.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Rosemarie “Susie” Suo, Oulu, WI, and Theresa (Robert) Anderson, New Auburn, WI; four sons, Gary (Wanda) Suo, Oulu, WI, Kevin Suo, Oulu, WI, Theodore “Ted” Suo, Osceola, WI, and Terry (Erika) Suo, Oulu, WI; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Cunningham, Bolivan, OH; brother, George Krog, Two Harbors, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Toby, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Joe and Steve Krog.
Due to CDC regulations and Governor mandates, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held, and announced at a later date.
