Maurice F. “Corey” “Mo” Hennessy, 84, lifelong Superior resident, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in his home.
He was born October 22, 1928 in Staples, MN to Denis Leo and Eva (Carron) Hennessy, Sr.
Corey graduated from the former East High School and the Superior State Teacher's College.
He served in Korea with the United States Army as a medic.
He married Jean Soderlund on November 3, 1955 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior and celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage.
Corey was employed as a terminal gauger for Lakehead Pipeline for many years.
He was a longtime active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Corey also loved sports of all kinds. He really enjoyed participating in his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing in Solon Springs and he loved dogs.
He was a Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badgers and Notre Dame fan.
Corey was a loving husband, father and grandfather who’s faith was very important to him.
In addition to his wife Jean, Corey is survived by two daughters, Carol Hennessy, Superior, Colleen Anderson, Superior; two sons, Corey (Mary LaValley) Hennessy, Albuquerque, NM, Paul Hennessy, Superior; a daughter-in-law, Deb Hennessy, Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren, Erin, Steven, Christopher Sean, Cody, Matt, Nell, Connor and Rhiannon; one brother, Denis (Ann) Hennessy, Jr., Solon Springs, WI; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Stodola, Duluth, MN, Eileen Suber, Fort Gratiot, MI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son Patrick on December 27, 2010 and his parents.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the 12 Noon Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 17, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers for the service will be Corey’s grandchildren.
