Max M. Luzaich, 60, lifelong Superior resident, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born in Superior on October 4, 1948 to Max and Pearl (Altman) Luzaich and raised in Central Park, Superior, throughout his childhood.
He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1967.
He served his country in the United States Navy having served aboard the USS Camden.
Max married Mary Cosgrove on April 4, 1970 in St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Superior and they celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage.
He was employed as a supply clerk for the Federal Aviation Administration for over thirty-two years.
He loved sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He loved the outdoors and he enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends and he was very proud of his Serbian heritage. Max enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid MOPAR enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Max is survived by two daughters, Michelle Luzaich, Mandy Luzaich and one son, Marc Luzaich, all of Superior; one granddaughter, Gabrielle; one grandson to be born in July; two sisters, Judith (Tom) Blundell and Maxine Luzaich, both of Superior; one brother, Mike (Dana) Luzaich, Superior; several nieces and nephews and his three dogs, Cody, Sydnie and Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Max was a two time organ recipient in 1975 and 2000 and was grateful to the donor families.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM Memorial Service on Friday, May 1, 2009 in Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Ave., Superior with Pastor Gary Garnatz, officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
