Maxine Olivia Thompson of Superior and Amnicon Lake, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was the daughter of Reuben and Edythe (Carlson) Johnson.
Maxine married Merrill Thompson and they celebrated sixty years of marriage before Merrill’s passing in 2008.
She is preceded in death by her husband Merrill, her parents, sister Lois Hayles, brother-in-law Jim Hayles, nephew Jamie Hayles and sisters-in-law Mary C. Johnson, Fern Thompson and Fay (Bob) Lear.
Maxine is survived by three sons, Mark, Superior, WI, Kim (Sandra), Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Bruce (Robin) Thompson, Dowling Lake, WI; nine grandchildren, Julia (David) Stolfa, Tanner, Janet, Holly and Peter Thompson, Kelsey (Tom) Hamilton, Andrea (Nathan) Coppock, Eric and Alex (Chelsea) Thompson; one great-granddaughter, Alena Coppock; brother Troy L. Johnson, Superior, WI; sister, LuElla (Harold) Stivers, Richland, WA and four nieces and eight nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 th Street, Superior. Visitation will resume on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM and continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Pastor Will Mowchan officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior. Pallbearers for the service will be Maxine’s grandchildren.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Maxine’s name to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
