Michael J. Hansen (60), Superior, died Saturday, January 12, 2019. Michael was born April 11, 1958 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of James and Sally (Wasil) Hansen.
He married Gayla (Goettl) Hansen in 1978 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and they celebrated forty years of marriage this past summer.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Gayla, Superior, WI; daughter, Alyssa (Joel) Nace, Doylestown, PA; son, Brian (Stacie) Hansen, Hawthorne, WI; grandchildren, Conner and Julia Nace, and Kensey and Carver Hansen; father, James (Donna) Hansen, Gurnee, IL; a brother Robert (Sheri) Hansen, Davis, OK; two sisters, Sherry (Jeff) Jerry, Balsam Lake, WI, and Patricia (Paul) Hubler, New Richmond, WI; many nieces and nephews and four Godchildren, Kim, Kayla, Samantha and Logan.
Michael worked for over 30 years at the Duluth Papermill as an engineer until his retirement in 2012. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Hansen; father-in-law, Kenneth Goettl and his infant brother, Jon Hansen.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior, with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. David Neuschwander as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
