Michael G. Kiwus

Michael G. Kiwus, 65, resident of Rochester, New York, passed away on March 14, 2024, in his home. He was born in Virginia, MN on June 11, 1958, the son of Gerard “Jay” and Ruby (Peterson) Kiwus.

Michael was a former longtime resident of Mountain Iron, MN. It was there he graduated from Mountain Iron High School, in the class of 1976. In 1983 he received his bachelor's degree in professional photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York. His interests shifted while at RIT and also took many elective courses in videography. Michael then worked as a commercial truck driver for many years and finished his career at Veltri Trucking, working with them for over twenty-five years.

Even though Michael had not gone into photography professionally, he always loved photography. He also enjoyed cycling and the culinary arts. Above all, Michael loved engaging in good conversation.

He is survived by his sisters Lita (Brian) Doesten, Oro Valley, AR, and Lauren (Douglas) Burger, Barnes, WI; nieces Sarah Leggett and Emily Davidson; nephew John Davidson; and best friend Marty Felgen, Los Angeles, CA.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother Ruby (Peterson) Kiwus and father Gerard “Jay” Kiwus.
