Michael Lukkarila

Michael Lukkarila, 63, lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, WI, surrounded by his family. He was born in Maple, WI, October 16, 1954, the son of Edwin and Edna (Autio) Lukkarila.

Mike served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He worked as a laborer at the Pillsbury Plant in Poplar, WI for many years, and was a former member of the Maple Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, Mike was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his lovely daughter, Amanda (Fritz) Williams, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Logan, Karli “Boo”, and Kenzie; sister, Amy (Tim) Sharp, Superior, WI; nephew, Shawn (Mary) Kunckel; longtime companion, Maureen Stark, Superior, WI, and her children, Traci Roske and Denny Mattson (of the late Scott Roske), Lorie (Fran) Stodola, Joan O’Kash, Jill (Jerome Majetich) Sajec, Dawn (Steven) Lambert and Stacey (Scott) Sanders, Robert (Nancy) Roske; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his faithful pup “Smutley”.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steve Lukkarila.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor Donna Rutten officiating.

Burial will be at Maple Memorial Cemetery in Maple, WI.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice team for the loving care they provided Mike during his illness.
