Michael J. Pelletier

Michael J. Pelletier, 72, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from pneumonia after a 15-year journey with a stroke, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, WI. He was born on November 16, 1952, the son of Jerry and Gertrude (Wizner) Pelletier in Duluth, MN.

He graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, class of 1971. He was employed as a machinist for the DMIR Railway for 36 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinists.

Mike and Linda Belanger were united in marriage on June 19, 1999, in Las Vegas, NV. They celebrated 26 years together before his passing.

He worshiped at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Duluth. Mike loved his sports. He could often be found watching baseball, football or golf on TV, particularly when his favorites were playing, the Vikings and the Twins.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Pelletier; son, Jerry (Sally) Pelletier, Edina, MN; step-children, Tom (Amy) Belanger, Loretto, MN and Kimberly Belanger, Superior; step-grandchildren, McKenzy, Cole and Laney Belanger; granddaughter, Taylor Urie, Minneapolis, MN: sisters, Diane O’Keefe, Superior, Cynthia Pelletier, Duluth, and Patty Brujhell, AZ; sisters-in-law, Sheila (Bob) Ruse, Duluth and Lorraine Craft, Eugene, OR; brother-in-law, Lenny (Cynthia) Moreau, Superior; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Jamie Urie.

We would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior for their wonderful care and compassion they showed for Mike. Also, to Bob Ahlborg for being a great friend and always being there for him.

A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E 5th Street in Superior, with a Memorial Service at 5:00 PM, Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as officiant.
