Michale E. "Mike" Kaipainen

June 9, 1966 — December 15, 2020

Michale “Mike” Elmer Kaipainen, 54, formerly of Hoyt Lakes, MN passed away on December 15, 2020 in Superior, WI.

Michale was a twelve-year veteran of the United States Army. During his time of service, he was stationed all over the world; Fort Carson, CO, South Korea, Germany and Fort Rucker, AL. Michale held many positions in the Army, to include, air traffic controller, food inspector, and field artillery specialist where he was awarded numerous accommodations and achievements. In civilian life, Michale worked in security at Fond-du-Luth Casino and Aerostitch Design, Duluth, MN., and the Bureau of Land Management in Las Vegas, NV., before retiring.

Michale traveled near and far; always with his fishing pole, tackle box, and lawn chair in tow. Exploring on his four-wheeler or fishing on a warm sunny day at his mother’s home on Sunshine Lake is what Michale was all about.

Michale is proceeded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Opal Stein.

He is survived by his mother, Donna Scorse, sister, Chandra (Thomas) Lanthier, brother, Shawn (Shelly) Kaipainen, Uncle, Howard UB Stein, Aunt, Mary Stubbs, nieces, Paige (Josh) Letter, Kassidy Lanthier, and nephews, Curtis and Dylan Lanthier.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of the Androy Hotel for the kindness they showed to Michale. Michale will be missed by many and loved by all.

A celebration of Michale’s life will be held in the summer of 2021.
