Mike Gangnon "Papa", 80, lifelong resident of Superior, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family.
Mike was born in Superior Wisconsin in 1944. He was very passionate about his small town in Wisconsin living here for almost 81 years. His proudest accomplishments were being married for nearly 60 years to Barb, his two kids, & his three grandchildren.
Mike had a passion for cars and successfully owned Catlin Ave Bodyshop for nearly four decades. His years of retirement were spent at his lake home in Iron River, WI, which him and Barb owned for 45 years. He enjoyed visiting his loved ones in Minneapolis and enjoying a cold one at Jimmy’s Saloon. He was a Packer Super-fan, Hamms beer fanatic, and bilingual (if sarcasm counts as a second language).
Mike was very proud of his college degree from UW-Superior where he was a first-generation student. He spoke highly of his fraternity where he met some of his lifelong friends. Go FEX!
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; daughter Leslie Noble (Craig Noble); son Michael (Kathy) Gangnon; granddaughters Emily (Ryan) Vassar and Natalie Noble (Shane Tetzlaff); and grandson Jacob Gangnon. He had many nieces, nephews, loving relatives, friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mike is proceeded in death by his parents Lilian Gangnon and Leslie Gangnon; brothers Robert Gangnon, Jack Gangnon; and sister MaryJo Gangnon.
A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held in summer of 2025.
The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E 5th Street in Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements. To leave a condolence or sign the guestbook visit www.lenroot-maetzold.com.
