Mildred “Millie” Nancy Richard, 66, died peacefully Monday, November 14, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born in Manitoba, Canada on March 3, 1956, to Roy and Myrtle (Merrick) Richard.
Millie was a proud member of the Long Plains First Nations Tribe of Manitoba. She graduated high school and remained teachable often referring to herself as a “lifelong student.” She worked at a law firm as a paralegal, was a Horticulture Specialist and a dedicated life-giver and spiritual advisor. She also dedicated herself as a Peer Recovery Specialist at Recovery in the Woods in Duluth, MN.
Above all Millie was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her daughters, Priscilla (Anthony Pierre) Richard, Vancouver, British Colombia Canada, Valerie (Mark Pero) Zhaawendaagozikwe, Solon Springs, WI, and Zawditu (Sam) DaCosta, of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada; Sons, Jason Paul (Shawna Bruce) Richard, and Napoleon James Ross; grandchildren, Hezekiah, Theresa, James, Ethan, Jocelyn, Rebecca, James, Maria, Niigaaniibines, and Afra; great-great grandchildren Emerson and Jimi; sister Barbra Longclaws, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Hector and Cameron and her sister Rena.
Private Traditional Native American Services were held.
