Milton R. “Ray” Hinz, 85, passed away on Friday, December 05, 2014 at Golden Living of Superior, following a 40 year battle with multiple sclerosis, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 15, 1929 in Superior to Milton M. and Margaret (Hazaret) Hinz.
Ray served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Florendine “Clem” Paul in Bismarck, ND on September 12, 1953 and recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.
He was employed as a carman for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads.
From 1985 to 2000, Ray and Clem lived on their property in Brule, WI until his illness brought them back to Superior.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Ray loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and enjoyed doing carpentry work.
In addition to his wife Clem, Ray is survived by two sons, Mark (Kathy) Hinz, Sag Harbor, NY, Bradley (Amy) Hinz, Farmington, MN; three daughters, Karen (Bob Merich) Hinz, Denver, CO, Lynn (Gary Frutkof) Hinz, Burnsville, MN, Dina (Dave) Perry, San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Katie (Missa), Jessie, Emily, Michael, Emily and Amaya; five great-grandchildren, Jaden, Evan, Skylar, Peyton and Dalton and one sister, Joann, Washington state.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December10, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Superior and will continue until the 11:00 AM
Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Ray’s family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living of Superior for their wonderful, loving care of Ray during the 7 ½ years he lived there.
