Molly (Okash, Muench) Spaun

February 15, 1914 — April 3, 2013

Molly (Okash, Muench) Spaun, 99, longtime Superior resident, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.

She was born on February 15, 1914 in Gary New Duluth, MN to Nickola and Pearl (Duzet) Okash and moved to Superior at an early age with her family.

She graduated from the former Central High School in Superior.
Molly was a member of the St. George Serbian Church in Gary New Duluth for most of her life.

She owned and operated Molly’s Bar in four different locations for approximately 70+ years. She was known and loved by people all over the United States and Canada and she touched many lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents Nickola and Pearl Okash, sisters Millie Dodd, Daisy Koss and Sophie Okash, brothers Michael, George, Alex and Daniel Okash.

Molly is survived by her pride and joy son, Oscar Muench, whom will miss her greatly; sisters, Dorothy Gamsa, Mary Campbell and Lorraine “Cookie” Panyon and many nieces and nephews especially Nicholas Okash. She leaves behind many friends, such as Beverly, Andrea, Michele, Debra, Darlene and Arnie.

One thing of note was her love of animals, especially her German Shepherd and parrots.

Oscar would like to thank all the caregivers that helped Molly throughout the years.

A Time of Remembrance – Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior.
