Nancy M. Wiitala

Nancy M. Wiitala, 71, Superior, died Friday, December 17, 2010 in Golden Living of Superior.

She was born on December 30, 1938 in Superior to William and Elsie (Hoven) Sewall.

She graduated from the former Central High School in 1957. She married Martin Wiitala on December 12, 1959 and celebrated forty-nine years of marriage before he passed away on March 29, 2009.

Nancy was employed as a school crossing guard for the City of Superior for twenty-six years.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her years as an avid “Hockey Mom”, and she was a devoted fan of the Wisconsin Badgers.

Nancy is survived by two daughters, Marian (Joseph Jr.) Kutzler, Superior; Gloria Svean, Reno, NV; one son, Martin (Jeanne) Wiitala, Jr., Lakeville, MN; seven grandchildren, Lindsey Wiitala, Emily Wiitala Corey Svean, Ryan Kutzler, Amy Wiitala, John Wiitala, Katlyn Wiitala; one special nephew, Eric Sewall and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Martin, Nancy is preceded in death by a son, William Wiitala, her parents and brother William Sewall.

Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until the 1:00 PM Memorial Service on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Plaster of Concordia Lutheran Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenwoood Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nancy’s grandsons, Corey, Ryan and John and her nephew Eric.
