Nelda May (Slick) St. George

Nelda May (Slick) St. George, 86, formerly of Superior, WI, and of Mt. Iron, MN, died Friday April 15, 2022, in Duluth, MN. Nelda was born on February 6, 1936, to Rex James and Olive May (Brittan) Slick.

Nelda was united into marriage to Bernard Leroy St. George on September 18, 1951. She worked for many years as a reporter for the Mesabi Daily News and after retirement, Nelda and her husband got rid of everything and spent the next ten years traveling the United States in their RV.

Nelda was very active in the DFL party and enjoyed volunteering in the Virginia, MN soup kitchen. She loved to cook and was an avid knitter.

She is survived by two daughters, Marie (Lonnie) Houck, Greensboro, NC, and Rebecca June St. George, Duluth, MN; four sons, Victor Lucius (Karen) St. George, Duluth, MN, James Rex St. George (Mark Sullivan), New York City, William Francis (Jane) St. George, Fairbanks, AK, Albert Leo (Anita) St. George, Encinitas, CA; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; twin sister, Nora Parenteau; and her brother Neil Slick.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Leroy; grandson, Kevin Houck, great-grandson, Dexter Ojeda; brother, Rex James Slick; sister, Betsy Olsen; and parents.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E 5 ^th Street in Superior and will continue until the 6:00 PM Memorial Service with Pastor Dennis Paulson officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at Westwood Terrace and the entire Benedictine Community for the excellent care they provided for Nelda in the last years of her life.
