Nelma L. Colby, 88, South Range, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth. She was born on February 16, 1921 in Maple, WI to Esa and Mary (Jarvi) Aho.
She was a former member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She loved gardening, farming and animals.
Nelma is survived by a nephew Norman Nelson, Lakewood, WA; four foster children, Janeen (Jay) Miland, Menomonie, WI, Craig Haglund, Rochester, MN, Rob (Gail) Haglund, New Brighton, MN, Sheila (Dean) Bloomquist, Rochester, MN; seven grandchildren, Janelle (Andrew) Vick, Edina, MN, Melissa (Pete) Weseloh, St. Louis, MO, Lindsay Nelson, St. Louis, MO, Corey Nelson, Chisholm, MN, Jack Sazama, New Brighton, MN, Josh and Grace Haglund of New Brighton, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Albert, Toivo and Ted; two sisters, Hilma and Jenny and her former husband Elmer Colby.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Saturday, September 5, 2009 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Ells of Lakeside Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Craig Haglund, Rob Haglund, Jay Miland, Dean Bloomquist, Pete Weseloh and Mike Granlund.
