Nick W. Kienzle

Nick W. Kienzle, Jr., 77, lifelong Superior and Port Wing area resident, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born on December 29, 1935 in Racine, WI to Nick and Rose (Aker) Kienzle.

Nick served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

He married his wife Judy and celebrated forty-two years of marriage before she passed away on July 31, 1997. He married his wife Mardi in December 2000 and celebrated twelve years of marriage.

He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, he was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #10 in Duluth for fifty-seven years, he was also a member of the Superior Buildings and Trades Council.

Nick was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish. He loved polka music, traveling with his wife, Mardi; enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered for his beautiful log cabin bird feeders.

In addition to his wife Mardi, Nick is survived by one son, John (Patty) Kienzle, Superior; one daughter, Debra (Mark) Lisdahl, Superior; three grandchildren, Mike Kienzle, Duluth, Kelly Kienzle, Superior, Tim (Amy) Lisdahl, California; four great-grandchildren, Zane, Carter, Arabella and Jaxon; three stepsons, Brian Stank, Rick (Jennifer) Stank, Randy (Patti) Stank, five step grandchildren, Caleb, Cassie, Jordy, Reggie and Riley; two brothers, Tom Kienzle, Superior, Joe Kienzle, Superior; three sisters, Rose (Chet) Snydle, Lake Nebagaon, WI, Nancy (Mike) Starcevich Amnicon, Fran (Denny) Bucholz, Lakewood, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife Judy, Nick is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Kienzle.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Sunday, September 8, 2013 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson, as celebrant.

Burial will be in the Orienta Cemetery in the Town of Orienta, WI.

Active pallbearers for the service will be John and Mike Kienzle, Mike Starcevich, Mark Lisdahl, Brian and Rick Stank.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick’s grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
