Nora J. Parenteau

Nora Jean Parenteau, 86, lifelong Billings Park resident, died peacefully, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, MN. She was born in Superior, WI, February 6, 1936, the daughter of Rex and Olive (Britton) Slick.

She married the love of her life, Robert Parenteau on July 14, 1953, and they celebrated sixty-two years of marriage before his passing in 2007.

Nora was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Superior as well as the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed “Swim-Nastics” at the Superior YMCA and was secretary of the former St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Billings Park.

In her spare time, Nora was an avid quilter and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She knitted slippers for Solvay Hospice House and will lovingly be remembered by many as the “Slipper Lady”.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (John) Lamphier, Brookston, MN, and Susan (Mark) Van Vlack, Ashland, WI; son, Joseph (Gianna) Parenteau, Iron River, WI; grandchildren, Christina (Bill) Madill, John R. (Nicole)_ Lamphier, Dawn (Jon) Zifko, Mark (Lindsay) Van Vlack Jr., Brook (John) Hoven, and Laura (Zach) Olson; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Neil (Betty) Slick; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; parents; brother, Rex “Jim” Slick; twin sister, Nelda St. George,

and sister, Betsy Olson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor Victor St. George officiating.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Superior.
