Norene A. Martineau

Norene A. Martineau, 95, former resident of Superior, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024, at River Grand Senior Living in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

She was born on November 26, 1928, in Bellingham, WA, the daughter of Norbert and Gladys (Hawkins) Marx.

She attended Deer River High School in Deer River, MN and later attended Minnesota School of Business. She worked as a secretary at the Deer River Clinic and in the University Extension/Douglas County Office in Superior before retiring in December of 1983.

Norene was a member and former member of many organizations including Girl Scouts and Brownie Scouts in Deer River, Onaway Club holding various offices, former St. Francis Health and Rehab Pastoral Care, St. Mary’s Hospital Superior Auxiliary, and St. Francis Altar Society.

She is survived by nephews and nieces Craig (Becky) Martineau, Paul Martineau, Jon (Sandy) Martineau, Ann (John) Aultman, Kari Raitz, Alan Martineau, Joseph (Missy) Martineau; many great and great-great nephews and nieces, and her Goddaughter Susan DeWitt.

Preceded in death by her husband Philip Martineau and her son David Martineau.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4th Street in Superior, and will continue until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
