Norman Thomas Bartylla, age 85, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Superior, WI. He was born February 21, 1933 in Superior, WI, the son of Norbert and Veronica (Dudek) Bartylla.
Norman served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was stationed in Korea where he operated locomotives for the army and was very proud to have served his country. He worked for Murphy Oil in Superior for thirty-eight years, retiring as a Shift Foreman.
Norman was a lifelong resident of Superior and enjoyed spending time at the cabin he built at Lake Nebagamon, WI and collecting model trains. He was united in marriage to Mary Jo Olson on June 14, 1958 in Superior, WI and they celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage.
He is preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Veronica and sisters Patricia and Delores.
Norman is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Jo of Superior; his two sons, Bradley and Jason (Tricia Follis) Bartylla; two grandchildren, Ellie and Kate; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Florence and Arlene Olson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Superior Rehabilitation and Essentia Health Hospice for their loving care they provided to Norman.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2022 E 2 nd St, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Victor St. George officiating. M ilitary Honors will be accorded by Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
