Orlin D. Bellanger, 100, longtime Superior resident, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, WI. She was born in Superior on September 4, 1916, the daughter of George and Rose Bellanger.
Orlin graduated from Cathedral High School and attended one year of college.
She was employed as a bookkeeper by Brandser’s Clothing and Campbell Lumber in Superior. Orlin was a lifelong member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed skating, bowling, golfing, card playing and traveling. She looked forward to frequent visits to her “happy place”, Sue and Dewey’s cabin in Crosslake, MN.
Orlin’s favorite four-legged pal, “Snowball” brought continuous joy and always managed to elicit a smile.
She will be remembered by her family as a care giver for her parents and sister. Orlin also volunteered at St. Francis Nursing Home and the former Chaffey Nursing Home. She will be remembered by everyone for her gentle nature, sweet smile and sense of humor. Her love of adventure and strong spirit were legendary.
She is survived by nieces, Joanne “Sue” (Dewey Nelsen) Kubala, Stillwater, MN; Donna (Lauren) Sletten, Duluth, MN; nephews, Greg “Francis” (Bobbi) Katz Kubala, Boston, MA; Tim (Dev) Smith Kubala, Madison, WI; Joe (Julie Lantman) Kubala, Superior; grandnieces, Johanna Sletten and Rachel Katz-Kubala; grandnephew, Jonathan “Cole” (Christi Woodburn) Sletten; great grandniece, Cedar Reese Sletten; aunt, Lorraine Belanger, Superior; uncle, Tom Rohan, Superior; sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” (Leon) Nord, Superior; many cousins and friends.
Orlin was preceded in death by her parents and sister Fern Kubala.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, WI and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
