Patricia Mae Petersen, 90, lifelong Superior resident, died Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at home with family by her side.
She was born in Superior June 11, 1934, the daughter of John and Marguerite (Patterson) VanWagenen.
She graduated from the former East High School in Superior and was a longtime member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. Pat worked as a clerk at Red Owl for many years and with her love of children, Pat gifted many years to the community as a daycare provider at “Granny Square.” She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and a gifted artist and especially enjoyed watercolor painting of local scenery.
Above all, Pat was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her children, Terry (Bronko) Sikorski, Duluth, MN, Mike (Andrea) Obester, of Colorado, and Betsy Steltz, Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Annie (Michael) Compton, Matthew (Klair) Black, Patrick (Brittani) Obester, Kellan Obester, Bauer Obester, Casey Miner, Kaeli and Alexis Steltz; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Richard Obester; her second husband, Willard Petersen; son-in-law, Gary Steltz; sister, Kay VanErt, and her parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in Nemadji Cemetery at a later date.
