Patricia "Pat" Scheer

Patricia “Pat” Scheer, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, age 80, died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Franciscan Health Center in Duluth, MN. Pat, a lifelong Duluth resident, was born on August 30, 1940 to Louis and Dorothy (Krause) Lancour. She married Donald Scheer on March 17, 1956 and they raised a loving family and celebrated many happy years of marriage before his passing.

Pat worked as a waitress, a switchboard operator, and as a teacher’s aide for Head Start. She also spent many years in catalog sales for Sears & Roebuck. She put her excellent salesperson skills to use and hosted many Tupperware and Princess House parties as well.

Pat was known to many as mom, auntie, and grandma. She welcomed everyone with a smile and an open door. Her home was always open to family, friends, and neighbors for a cup of coffee, game of dice, or a shoulder to lean on. Pat’s favorite pastimes were playing games with family and friends; especially bingo, cards, cribbage, and Yahtzee. She was a social butterfly and always involved in community activities such as TOPS, bowling and cribbage leagues, and rummage sales. Pat also enjoyed traveling to Mexico with the girls, and wintering in Arizona with her companion Duane Johnson.

While Pat was very active with her community and friends, her true pride and joy was her family. She cherished every day with them; whether playing at the cabin, watching grandchildren at her trailer, or playing dice on Tuesdays at the nursing home. Pat was loved by many and will be missed for her quick wit and kind heart.

Pat is survived by three daughters: Donna (Bill Andersen) Scheer, Duluth, MN; Julie (Scheer) Meyer, Sauk Rapids, MN; and Penny (John Dandrea) Scheer, Superior, WI; two sons: Dale (Vicki) Scheer, Iron River, WI and Gary (Traci Bergquist) Scheer, Superior, WI; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Tim) Scheer, Cloquet, MN; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Kathy) Lancour, Duluth, MN; longtime loving companion, Duane Johnson, Esko, MN; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Scheer; son, Timothy Scheer; sisters, MaryAnn Westlund and Pamela Hanson; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 W. 3 ^rd Street, Duluth, MN, and will continue until the 10:00 AM Memorial Mass. Social distancing guidelines will be respected.

Inurnment will follow at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.

A time of fellowship and a Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at a later date.
