Patrick Nelson

Patrick “Rick” Nelson, 75, longtime resident of Superior, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Villa Marina Nursing Home, with his family holding his hand. He was born in Superior on July 20, 1949, the son of Levi and Madeline (Nollet) Nelson.

Rick grew up in Poplar, WI. He graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, WI, in the class of 1968. He then spent most of his life working for the Challenge Center in Superior. There he worked in the greenhouse and as an assembler. Rick loved looking at maps and had a large collection of atlases that he treasured. Rick was a world traveler at heart!

Rick was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by his sister, Gloria Worlow, Indiana; sister-in-law Donna Nelson, Poplar, WI; nieces and nephews Wanda Amoth, Brian (Jill) Nelson, Wendy (Paul) Renman, Brad (Terri) Nelson, Carolyn (Don) Tyson, Sandy (Steve) Hazen, and Bridgett (Sam) Tahtinen; many great nieces and nephews; and his family at REM, Micah, Danielle, Heather, Leslie and Cathy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Henry “Tiger” Nelson; brother-in-law Calvin Worlow; and nephew Robert Amoth.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1410 Baxter Ave in Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery immediately following the Mass. All are welcome to join.
