Patsy L. Wiitala

Patsy L. Wiitala, 78, longtime resident of Maple, WI, died peacefully, Monday, April 25, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN with her husband and loving family by her side. She was born in Superior, WI, January 23, 1944, the daughter of Unno and Elsie (Lintula) Kiiski.

She graduated from Northwestern High School, class of 1962 and was united in marriage to Axel Wiitala on July 21, 1962, and they celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage before her passing.

Patsy enjoyed her years at home raising her family. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI and was a Douglas County 4-H Leader for many years.

Patsy enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and going to rummage-sales. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark Channel movies and was an avid Days of Our Lives fan for over fifty-five years. She especially loved country music and attended 270 live concerts! Patsy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Axel of Maple, WI; daughters, Lisa (Steve) Prell, Wausau, WI, and Tina (Ty Kasper) Cardinal, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Jordyn (Kaitlyn Rothamer) Prell, Amber (Patrick Slovonic) Prell, and Payton Cardinal; brothers, Tim (Peggy) Kiiski, Superior, WI, Tom (Rosie) Kiiski, Onalaska, WI, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 29, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2500 County Hwy B, Brule, WI, and will continue until the 3:00 PM Funeral Service with Pastor Scott Stai officiating and luncheon to follow at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of 2-West at St. Luke’s Hospital for their wonderful care, and to thank Dr. Roberto Fernandez of St. Luke’s Regional Cancer Center in Duluth, MN.
