Patty (Pat) Jeanne Hansen

Patty (Pat) Jeanne Hansen, 79, passed away on October 29, 2022, after a 3.5-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Pat was born on March 8, 1943, to Arthur and Audrey (Haacke) Lund in Aitkin, MN.

Pat grew up in Hay Point, MN. She graduated from Hill City, MN in 1961. After graduating she moved to Minneapolis, MN.

She married the love of her life, Donald LeRoy Hansen on January 27, 1962. Pat and Donnie celebrated 47 years of marriage before Donnie’s passing in 2009.

Pat was known for her sense of humor and sarcasm. She enjoyed volunteering and helping others. She was very proud of her life saving blood donations to the Red Cross.

Pat always enjoyed working with the public. She worked many years in the hardware business. She learned many skills while working at Sandy’s OK Hardware, Elk River, MN.

Pat also enjoyed quilting. She made sure all her loved ones received one of her handmade quilts. She loved working in her flower gardens, canning and baking. But the most important thing in Pat’s life was her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters were the light of her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with the family at their cabin on Bass Lake.

After her diagnosis, Pat created a bucket list. She was able to: visit the Grand Canyon, fly in a hot air balloon, ride on a river boat, go for her first motorcycle ride, sail on Lake Superior, visit Split Rock Lighthouse, ride on a gondola, go whale watching and witness two granddaughters’ weddings.

Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. She will be greatly missed by many.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donnie, sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Samuell, Margaret (Kathy) Gregory and brother Robert Lund.

Pat is survived by her son, Jeffery (Diane) Hansen, daughter, Dawn (John) Heinen, grandson, Tyler (Marki) Hansen, granddaughters, Kacie (Devin Szpara) Heinen, Lauren (Mitchell) Wynia, Kaitlin (Tyler) Howard and two great-granddaughters, Briella, and Braelynn Hansen. Sisters, Mary (William) Feist and Helen Held. Brothers, Ronald (Jane) Lund, James (Judy) Lund, William (Patty) Lund, and Charles (Kathy) Lund. Brother-in-law, LeRoy Gruhlke, Sisters-in-law, Janice Christensen, Beverly Hansen, and Lois Hunt. Many nieces and nephews. Special friends, Erik Mueller, Becky and Dave Withrow, and Anita (Robert) O’Dell and all that called her “Grandma Pat.”

Our family would like to thank St. Luke’s hospice for the exceptional care they provided. A special thank you to, Dr. David Arvold for the compassion he showed our mom and our family, mom’s favorite infusion nurse, Joy and her medical team from the Mayo Clinic and St. Luke’s Oncology.

A celebration of life will be held on December 10, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cohasset Community Center, 305 1 ^st Ave NW, Cohasset, MN.
