Paul John Pederson

Paul John Pederson, 82, longtime Superior area resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at The Lighthouse in Superior. He was born in Duluth, MN in 1933, the son of Paul C. and Ruby E. (Holcomb) Pederson.

Paul grew up on a Dairy farm in Wrenshall, MN.

He met the love of his life, Dolores Larson at a dance. They were married in 1951 and were inseparable for nearly sixty-five years. They became lifelong residents of Superior.

Paul became an apprentice mechanic in the 1950’s in Superior, and eventually went on to form a business specializing in foreign car repair and in later years aircraft repair. Paul worked on everything from Studebakers to F4 Phantom jets. In addition to his incredible work ethic, he was also a private then commercial-rated pilot, and a long-time member of the Civil Air Patrol.

Paul was also a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed camping and in later years traveling the country by RV.

Paul is survived by his wife, Dolores E. Pederson (Larson); daughter Pamela J. Thompson, Superior, WI and grandchildren, Julia, Janet, Peter, Andrea and one precious great-granddaughter Alena; daughter, Connie (Rick) L. Bodeker, Cannon Falls, MN; and son Paul (Cynthia) D. Pederson, Batavia, IL, and grandchildren, Andrew and Breanna.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister by adoption, Karen (Robert) Wietman.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior.

Visitation will continue at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Avenue, Superior and continue until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
