Pauline K. “Paula” Palmer, 84, Superior, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in her home.
She was born in Baraboo, WI on August 15, 1931 to Paul and Minnie (Kopp) Mielke and was a Superior resident for most of her life.
She had been employed as a private secretary at San Jose Steel for R.V. Gakin, she worked at Stack Dept. Store and was a school aid and kitchen assistant for the Superior School District and was known as the “Lunch Lady”.
Paula was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Sharpe, Superior; two sons, Mark Palmer, Superior, Scott Palmer, North St. Paul, MN; four grandchildren, Teri Quinn, Mandy (Scott) Renaud, Jennifer Friborg and Amber Palmer; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Paula’s twin, Paul Mielke, Port Isabella, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim”; a son Gary; an infant child; a sister, Mary Weissman; a son-in-law, William “Bill” Sharpe and a special daughter, Camille Holden.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Memorial Mass on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
Paula’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
