Philip J. Hauser

Philip J. Hauser, Superior, WI, formerly of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the age of 75. He was born on May 20, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI to Philip W. and Emma (Becker) Hauser.


He was a graduate of Regis High School, Eau Claire, WI in 1956.


He enlisted in the United States Navy and became an Aviation Ordinance man, first serving in Patrol Squadron VP 22 on a flight crew out of Adak, Alaska, flying anti-submarine warfare missions, and later, served aboard the USS Boxer (CV 21) and USS Randolph (CV 15). While serving aboard the USS Constellation (CV 64) he participated in the blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After an Honorable Discharge from service, he worked 42 years as an Engineer on the C&NW Railroad, and later, the Union Pacific out of Altoona, WI.

One of his proudest achievements was the celebration of 34 years of sobriety.

He enjoyed fishing with his family, wood crafting, and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.


He was deeply devoted to his wife of 53 years, his family, and his faith in God.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Philip is survived by his wife, Clarice (Books); one sister, Pat Johnson; three brothers, Bill (Pat), John (JoAnne) and Paul (Cheryl); his children, Don (Roni), Nita, Al (Sue), Carol (Chuck) Reiter, Todd (Patsy) Thibado and Chris (Duane) Bense and his grandchildren, Kassandra, Miranda, Steve, Veronica, Clarissa, and Curtis.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Avenue, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant.
