Philomena Mae Dock

Philomena Mae Dock died peacefully at Essentia Health surrounded by her Family on April 3, 2022.

Philomena was Born January 2, 1935, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Violet and Herman Olson. She was one of seven children.

She led an adventurous life often doing jobs that many thought to be a man’s job at the time, before settling down in Superior, Wi on Dowling Lake. Philomena was also one of the first female over the road truck drivers, which she team drove with her husband Wilmer for over 20 years before opening her art gallery, Call of the Wild, which she ran for many years before retiring.

Philomena was a fierce presence on this earth and usually made an impression upon the people she met. She was a devoted wife, loving and supportive mother and doting grandmother, and would often give her lunch to her grandchildren when they stopped into her shop during their adventures around town. She went out of her way to help her grandchildren in every way she could.

Philomena married Wilmer on December 7 th , 1965, in Water Town, South Dakota and they celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing.

Philomena is preceded in death by her son Bennie Mayse Jr, granddaughter Vanessa Mayse, siblings Alfred Olson, John Olson, Wesley Olson, Dorothy Jones, Marie Jones, and parents Violet and Herman.

Philomena is survived by husband Wilmer Dock, son, Michael Dock, daughter, Philomena (Jim) Powell, son, Tony Rose, sister, Christine Olson, grand Children, Christy (John) Kimmes, Misty Lawson, Cheryl Lawson, James (Julia) Powell and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, on April 7 th , 2022, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 1510 New York Avenue in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Steven Burns as celebrant.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
