Raymond Bruce “Chopsy” Meyers, 73, lifelong resident of Superior, passed away peacefully, following a lengthy illness, on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Superior on September 11, 1950, the son of Kenneth and Mary (Freascher) Meyers.
Ray served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was united in marriage to Peggy (Ogren) on February 22, 1974, in Superior. They recently celebrated fifty years of marriage.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding the birds. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers, and rarely missed a game. Above all, Ray loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Peggy; sons Jamey Meyers, San Diego, CA, and Jeff Meyers, Superior; grandchildren Haley, David, and Lillian; brothers Gus (Susan) Meyers, Jim Meyers, Mike Meyers, and Pat Meyers; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Ken and Mary; brother David Meyers; and granddaughter Rachel O’Neil.
A Celebration of Raymond’s Life will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Moose Lodge, 66 E. 5th Street in Superior.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
The family would like to thank the staff at Viewcrest and Moments Hospice for their efforts in caring for Ray.
