Regina Hartel

Regina Hartel, 90, longtime Superior area resident, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.

She was born in Rothschild, Wisconsin on November 29, 1920, the daughter of Peter and Edella (Zatcek) Pazio.

Regina was employed as a Housekeeper by St. Mary’s and the former St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Superior.

She is a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and its Altar Society and the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Regina is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Eccles and Marge Hartel both of Superior; three sons, Richard (Toni) Hartel, Jim Hartel, and Dennis Hartel all of Superior; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Hartel in June of 2002; her parents; one son, Kenneth in July of 2002; four sisters, Mary, Magdeline, Sophie and Anne; two brothers, Alex and Joseph Pazio.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 17, 2011 in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Superior.


Pallbearers for the service will be Shawn Hartel, Jacob Sutherlund, Bruce Sutherlund, Pat Pierce, Paul Hartel and Alan Hartel.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
