Richard F. Deck

Richard F. Deck, 74, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Twins Ports Health Services in Superior, WI. He was born in Duluth, MN, May 7, 1948, to Richard and Ellen (Levanpa) Deck.

Richard served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was a disabled Vietnam war veteran. After leaving the Navy, Richard graduated from Metropolitan State University with a B.A. He later become a supervisor for the United States postal service.

He was a member of the First Covenant Church in Superior, WI as well as a life member of DAV, the American Legion 435, and the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. Richard also enjoyed watching his favorite football team the Green Bay Packer and was a diehard Minnesota Twins fan.

Richard is survived by his brother, Dan (Cindy) Deck, Superior, WI and special niece, Danielle. Over the last few years Richard fought hard during his illness and his brother and niece, Dan, and Danielle, are what kept him going. Richard is further survived by his great-niece, Taytum, sister-in-law, Debbie Deck, Poplar, WI, and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mike, and David Deck.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Twin Ports Health Services and Moments Hospice for the kind, compassionate care they provided Richard.

A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior, with a Service of Remembrance to begin at 1:00 PM, with Gary Banker officiating. Following the service, Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 Honor Guard.
