Richard R. “Dick” Glonek, 89, Superior, WI resident, died Friday, August 9, 2019 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior. He was born on October 21, 1929 in Superior, WI to Thomas and Margaret (Reagnor) Glonek.
Dick married Amelia “Amy” Trianoski on February 1, 1951 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and recently celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage.
He was employed by several grocery warehouses in Superior as Director of Data Processing, retiring after many years from Twin Ports Grocery/Gateway Foods.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and served for many years as usher. He was active in the Catholic Charities and a member of the Board of Directors. Dick was instrumental in the creation of the Challenge Center in Superior.
He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and in later years he enjoyed keeping his lawn beautiful and riding on his riding lawnmower. His most important job in life was loving and caring for his wife and daughters. He was a very giving person and was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was lucky to live long enough to enjoy his two great-granddaughters.
Dick is survived by his wife, Amy; three daughters, Sue (Terry) Johnstone, Superior, WI, Rita (Scott Allent) Glonek, Siren, WI and Sharon Glonek, Superior, WI; two grandchildren, Kristy (Tyler Hildebrandt) Johnstone, Oliver, WI and Kraig Johnstone, Superior, WI; two great-granddaughters, Kaylee Sue and Madison Grace; one sister, Marge Palumbo, Superior, WI; brother-in-law, Walter (Rita) Trianoski, Superior, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret, brothers Thomas and Bernard “Spark” and sister Lorraine Backlund.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4 th Street, Superior, and continue until the 12:00 PM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Superior.
